In this post we will flash the ESP32-CAM module. If you did not setup your Arduino IDE for this module, have a look at this post here.
USB to TTL serial converter |
As you can see this module have no USB input with serial converter. So we use an USB to TTL serial converter to flash the module.
Connect your ESP32-CAM module with an USB to TTL serial converter like the schematic below.
Schematic |
ESP32-CAM USB to TTL
U0T --> RxD
U0R --> TxD
5V --> 5V
GND --> GND
Don't forget to connect IO0 and GND on ESP32 board (blue wire in schematic). If you forget it, it is possible that you get an error by flashing.
Flashing
Make sure that power supply is stable. Often TTL converter power output is unstable. I recommend to use an external power supply.
1. Connect your ESP32 module with TTL converter to computer.
2. Press upload
If upload was successfully the following message appears in console.
3. Remove wire between IO0 and GND.
4. Open serial monitor
5. Press reset button
ESP32-CAM module try to connect to your network. Make sure your network has a stable signal. If wifi signal or power supply is unstable curious errors will appear.
After successfully connection to your network an IP address appears in serial monitor.
6. Copy IP address to a web browser like google chrome and press enter.
ESP32-CAM server dashboard load in your web browser. Scroll down and press "Start stream" to start.
At the left side there many other settings. So you can try it all and adjust your cam module for your preferences.
